About WhiteBIT Coin

What Is WhiteBIT Coin (WBT)?

WhiteBIT Coin (WBT) is the native cryptocurrency of the WhiteBIT ecosystem, connecting one of Europe’s established cryptocurrency exchanges with blockchain infrastructure, trading incentives and reward programs. Launched in August 2022, WBT provides practical benefits to exchange users while functioning as the native asset of Whitechain, WhiteBIT’s Ethereum-compatible blockchain.

Unlike cryptocurrencies primarily designed for payments or decentralized governance, WBT derives much of its utility from services within the WhiteBIT ecosystem. Holders can receive reduced trading commissions, access selected platform benefits and participate in reward programs, while blockchain users pay network transaction fees in WBT.

The cryptocurrency also follows a deflationary supply model, with a fixed initial issuance of 400 million coins and recurring buybacks and burns funded by a portion of WhiteBIT’s exchange revenue.

How Does WBT Work?

How Does WhiteBIT Coin Work?

WBT operates across two connected environments: the centralized WhiteBIT exchange and the Whitechain blockchain.

On WhiteBIT, the cryptocurrency functions as a utility asset that rewards users for maintaining qualifying balances. Its benefits depend on how many coins are held and whether they remain available in the user’s account or are committed to the platform’s Holding program.

These incentives are connected to WhiteBIT’s spot, margin and futures trading services, where active traders can reduce certain transaction costs by maintaining eligible WBT balances.

Outside the exchange, WBT serves as Whitechain’s native cryptocurrency. Users pay WBT to execute transactions and interact with compatible smart contracts, extending its functionality beyond exchange-specific benefits.

WBT was initially issued on Ethereum and is also supported through Tron and Whitechain. Its maximum supply remains shared across these representations rather than multiplying with each supported network.

What Is WBT Used For?

WBT’s principal utility comes from its integration with WhiteBIT’s trading platform and associated services.

  • Trading fee discounts: Qualifying WBT balances reduce maker and taker commissions, with the discount determined by the user’s benefit tier.
  • Withdrawal privileges: Eligible Holding levels provide a limited number of free ETH and ERC-20 withdrawals.
  • Launchpad access: Certain tiers allow participation in token launches and related platform activities.
  • Referral rewards: Holding WBT can increase the share of trading commissions earned through eligible referrals.
  • Lending benefits: Users may receive additional rewards on qualifying USDT Crypto Lending products.
  • Blockchain transaction fees: WBT pays gas fees for transfers and smart contract operations on Whitechain.

These benefits create demand connected to actual platform usage, particularly among active traders whose transaction costs can accumulate over time.

However, WBT does not represent shares in WhiteBIT, ownership of the exchange or an unconditional entitlement to its profits.

What Is Whitechain, and How Does WBT Fit Into It?

Whitechain is the blockchain infrastructure associated with the WhiteBIT ecosystem. Originally developed as an Ethereum-compatible Layer 1 network, it supported smart contracts and decentralized applications using WBT as its native gas currency.

The original network operated through Proof of Authority (PoA), in which approved validators maintained blockchain consensus.

In July 2026, Whitechain announced a significant architectural transition from its standalone Layer 1 into an Ethereum Layer 2 built using the OP Stack.

The upgraded network is designed to settle transactions on Ethereum while providing faster execution, lower transaction costs and improved compatibility with Ethereum-based applications.

As of October 2026, the new Layer 2 is available on public testnet, with mainnet deployment targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026. The transition is intended to preserve WBT’s existing supply and economic model.

Importantly, Whitechain has stated that existing holders will not need to swap, claim or manually migrate their WBT. Balances are expected to transfer automatically when the mainnet migration takes place.

For WBT, the upgrade could expand utility by supporting additional decentralized applications, although actual network adoption will depend on developers, liquidity and sustained transaction activity.

WBT Tokenomics and Supply

WhiteBIT Coin launched with a fixed maximum supply of 400 million WBT. All coins were created through the initial issuance, and the protocol does not provide for additional minting beyond this allocation.

Feature WhiteBIT Coin (WBT)
Launch August 2022
Ecosystem WhiteBIT and Whitechain
Maximum initial supply 400 million WBT
Initial burn allocation 25 million WBT
Supply model Fixed issuance with recurring burns
Supported networks Whitechain, Ethereum, Tron
Native blockchain utility Gas payments
Reward mechanisms Holding and SoulDrop

The initial distribution allocated 120 million WBT to one group of ecosystem funds, 200 million to another treasury allocation, 54 million to private-sale participants and 1 million through WhiteBIT Launchpad. An additional 25 million WBT was assigned to a burn address.

Treasury allocations were subject to scheduled releases, with the final major unlock occurring in March 2026. However, tokens becoming unlocked does not necessarily mean they immediately enter public trading circulation.

The fixed issuance makes WBT different from inflationary cryptocurrencies that continuously introduce new coins through mining rewards.

How Do WBT Token Burns Work?

WhiteBIT operates a recurring buyback-and-burn mechanism intended to reduce WBT’s available supply over time.

Under the published model, the exchange uses an amount equivalent to 33% of trading fee revenue and 5% of revenue from certain other exchange activities, including withdrawals and margin-related services, to repurchase WBT for burning.

Burned coins are permanently removed from circulation, reducing supply without changing the maximum number originally issued.

WhiteBIT has committed to continuing the process until at least half of the original 400 million WBT allocation has been destroyed.

By October 2026, its published statistics showed more than 81 million WBT burned through the ongoing program, in addition to the initial 25 million coins assigned to a burn address.

This mechanism connects WBT’s token economics to exchange activity. Higher fee-generating activity can provide additional funding for buybacks, although the number of coins burned also depends on their market price.

A declining supply does not guarantee price appreciation. Market demand, trading liquidity and investor sentiment ultimately determine WBT’s valuation.

WBT Holding, Rewards and SoulDrop

WhiteBIT distinguishes between Owning and Holding WBT.

Owning refers to maintaining eligible WBT on an available account balance, which can qualify users for trading fee reductions without committing the coins to the Holding program.

Holding involves locking WBT within WhiteBIT to access additional privileges, including withdrawal benefits, Launchpad eligibility and rewards.

One associated mechanism is SoulDrop, which distributes WBT rewards to qualifying users who maintain eligible holdings and participate in the WB Soul ecosystem.

SoulDrop rewards are calculated over completed 30-day holding periods and depend on the user’s qualifying balance and program conditions. They are not equivalent to guaranteed interest, and ordinary WBT ownership does not automatically earn rewards.

Withdrawing coins from Holding also involves restrictions. WhiteBIT currently specifies a 14-day unholding period, with an immediate-release option subject to an additional fee.

These programs should not be confused with proof-of-work mining or conventional proof-of-stake rewards. Their economics and eligibility depend on WhiteBIT’s platform rules and associated smart contracts.

How to Buy and Store WBT

WBT can be purchased directly on WhiteBIT through supported trading pairs and conversion services. Its availability has expanded beyond its original exchange, including a Kraken spot listing in March 2026 that introduced additional access for eligible traders.

Investors can retain WBT in an exchange account or transfer supported versions to compatible self-custody wallets.

Because WBT exists across multiple blockchain environments, the correct network must be selected before making a deposit or withdrawal. Ethereum-based WBT requires ERC-20 compatibility, while native Whitechain transfers use the network’s own infrastructure.

Users should verify official contract addresses and supported withdrawal networks, particularly during Whitechain’s Layer 2 transition.

Keeping WBT on WhiteBIT may provide additional account benefits, but self-custody offers greater control over private keys at the expense of exchange-specific privileges.

Risks and Limitations

WhiteBIT Coin Risks and Limitations

WBT’s utility is closely linked to the performance and adoption of WhiteBIT’s ecosystem. Reduced exchange activity, changing fee structures or weaker demand for platform benefits could affect the cryptocurrency’s market value.

Its burn mechanism provides a predictable framework for supply reduction, but buybacks cannot prevent losses during periods of declining demand.

Centralization is another consideration. WhiteBIT determines exchange benefit tiers and administers its custodial Holding program, while Whitechain’s transition introduces execution, migration and smart contract risks.

Regulation may also influence platform accessibility. Although WhiteBIT EU obtained Austrian authorization under MiCA, users must still distinguish between the regulated exchange entity, the available services and the risks associated with holding WBT itself.

Finally, WBT remains a volatile cryptocurrency. Its fixed supply, trading benefits and ecosystem integrations do not provide a guaranteed investment return.

Is WhiteBIT Coin More Than an Exchange Token?

WhiteBIT Coin has developed beyond a conventional exchange loyalty asset by combining trading benefits, a fixed-supply economic model and native blockchain utility.

Its relationship with Whitechain creates opportunities for demand outside centralized trading, particularly if the planned Ethereum Layer 2 attracts developers and active applications.

Nevertheless, WBT remains closely connected to WhiteBIT’s commercial ecosystem. Its long-term relevance will depend on sustained exchange activity, effective token economics, successful blockchain development and demand from users who benefit from holding the asset.
